Chart-Topping UK Electronic Music Pioneer Howard Jones Celebrates 40th Anniversary of groundbreaking ‘Dream into Action’ Album Release with UK/Germany tour this Autumn.

On the heels of several successful US tours, Jones is set to launch European leg of tour, featuring songs from best-selling album + Greatest Hits, UK electronic music pioneer and chart-topping singer/songwriter Howard Jones is adding more dates to his European tour. For the first time in several years, Jones and his incredible band will play dates in Ireland, Denmark, Netherlands, Sweden, Germany and the UK, kicking off in Augsburg, Germany on October 18, wrapping up December 3 in Uppsala, Sweden, with shows in Dublin, London, Haarlem, and Stockholm, among others.

The timing couldn’t be better for Jones’ series of concert dates. It’s been 40 years since the release of his groundbreaking 1985 album, Dream into Action, which peaked at #2 in the UK charts and cracked the US Top 10. The album went on to spawn global hit singles, “Things Can Only Get Better” (which experienced a resurgence after being featured on an episode of Netflix’s Stranger Things) and “No One is to Blame” as well as “Life in One Day” and “Like to Get to Know You Well”.

1985 was also the year Jones performed at Live Aid, Wembley Stadium, alongside such legendary acts as David Bowie, Paul McCartney, and Phil Collins. Earlier that same year in February Jones performed live, keytar in hand, at the Grammy Awards from L.A.’s Shrine Auditorium with Stevie Wonder, Herbie Hancock and Thomas Dolby as part of the “Synthesizer Showdown,” performing a medley of their hits.

The self-affirmation of Dream into Action might be the perfect advice to get us through the current global chaos. “That album was written while I was on the road,” remembers Jones. “I had a studio set-up in every dressing room where we were playing shows. The excitement of being on the road was infused into those songs.”

And now, Jones is back performing live and generating that same energy and enthusiasm at every show, sold-out crowds singing along to anthems like “Things Can Only Get Better,” and Jones’ debut single, “New Song”. “I feel really pleased that the songs still resonate today,” admits Howard. “I’ve always said, it’s up to us to make things happen. There are times when we can no longer be bystanders.’

Although Jones could never have imagined he’d still be on the road at 70, he continues to enjoy performing. “This is the best job in the world, playing songs that people love, and hopefully leaving them inspired by the lyrics. I’ve always thought my role was that of a cheerleader as we all struggle with the ups and downs of daily life. We all need a boost when we are trying to put our dreams into action. At the end of the day, my job is to put on an amazing show, and leave people buzzing with a new energy, ready to deal with whatever life throws our way.”

That Dream will once again be turned Into Action starting this autumn for fans in Europe. “It’s great to see so many of my original fans at the shows and they’re bringing their kids and even Gen Z are showing up,” enthuses Jones. “This is so exciting for me because it means my music is being discovered by a whole new audience.”

Electronic music pioneer Howard Jones has been a constant presence on the international touring scene for the past four decades, playing live in a number of different configurations including intimate solo shows and dates with his full high-tech band set-up. He first burst upon the contemporary music scene in 1983, with his very English songwriting and pioneering synthesizers with “New Song”. His first two albums HUMAN’S LIB and DREAM INTO ACTION were worldwide hits. HUMAN’S LIB reached #1 in 1984 in the UK and featured the hits “New Song,” and “What Is Love?” In 1985, Jones released the follow-up, DREAM INTO ACTION, which quickly became a Top Ten Platinum album in the United States.

Howard Jones has sold upwards of 10 million albums worldwide and continues to make new music and tour the world. His ubiquitous hits can be heard in such high-profile television series and films such as “Stranger Things,” “Breaking Bad,” “Watchmen,” “The Carrie Diaries” and “Superstore”.
