Playing With Shakespeare is a workshop that helps leaving cert students find the key to understanding Shakespeare (Hamlet in this case) for themselves, instead of trying to memorise answers and hoping the right question comes up on the leaving cert. Conducted by two tutors - an acting professional AND an educational professional, the workshop strips away the alien aspects of Shakespeares writing to help students engage and understand their leaving cert. plays.
This is not all the workshop deals with however Playing With Shakespeare also provides tips and techniques on how to answer leaving cert questions, as well as identifying key scenes, metaphors, motifs and character traits which are examined on the English paper.
Other Shakespeare workshops tend to be either entirely academic and drab, or entirely theatrical and lack substance relevant to the leaving cert.
This is the first and ONLY workshop in Ireland that provides an interactive, theatrical appreciation of Shakespeare AS WELL AS an academic approach tailored to the requirements of students and aimed at successfully tackling leaving cert. questions.
